At Palermo High School, cheerleaders don't just cheer for teams, they are the team that wins. Hermione Winters and her best friend Polly are co-captains. They are hoping this year will be legendary. It is, but not at all in the way they hoped. During the last night of their summer cheer camp, Hermione's drink is drugged. She wakes up the next day to learn she has been raped. She has no memory of who hurt her, and the "evidence" was destroyed. Therefore, her attacker could have been anyone at the camp, even one of her own team members. When Herminone finds out she is pregnant, she has to make tough choices on how to move forward. With the support of her parents, best friend, teammates, and an amazing psychologist, Hermione is not alone as she fights to find herself and her attacker. Just like Hermione and her Golden Bears, this book is a winner. Johnston does an amazing job chronicling the mixed reactions to Hermione's rape. I love how she surrounded Hermione with the support to find her way out of the terror. I cried at parts and celebrated in others. This is an extraordinary book. Highly recommended!
