Although I have only blogged about my favorite books, I thought it was time to share my love of kdramas. I started watching Kdramas about four years ago. My favorite manga is Boys Over Flowers , and a student of mine gave me her copy of Kdrama version of the series. I was hesitant, but after the first episode, I was hooked. I binge-watched the entire series over Christmas vacation, and since then, I haven't stopped. Now, my daughter and I watch them together. I feel she is increasing her reading fluency as we enjoy characters that make us laugh about the significance of bandaids and cry as fate keeps true loves separated. It has been so difficult getting good advice about which dramas are the best, so I thought I would share my list with those of you out there that are interested in trying a new show. Please view my favorites and share your suggestions of what I should watch next here: Krazy for K-Drama.

Orange: The Complete Collection vol. 1 & 2 by Ichigo Takano On the day before the start of her 11th grade year, Naho receive a letter from herself - 10 years into the future. It tells Naho that a new boy will join her class, and she is encouraged to everything she can to save him from a tragic fate. Naho assumes the letter is a hoax, but as events from the letter keep unfolding in front of her eyes, Naho realizes the letter is real, which means Kakeru, the new boy, is in real danger. If Naho wants to change Kakeru's fate, she will have to break free of her shyness and let him know her true feelings. This amazing 2 volume manga explores the question, "Can you change someone's fate?" in an exceptional way. Naho's group of friends are a supportive, eclectic group that cheer on her quest to save Kakeru. I love that we get to see the group as they try to change the future and from their future selves who will be writing the letters. The premise is so intriguing that I could not stop reading. I haven't finished book two, so I don't know if I am going to be heartbroken or joyful. I love that I am not sure and that I could be happy with either fate. This original tale is highly recommended! |
