Emily has a loving mom and dad, so she does not want to know more about her biological father, a member of the motorcycle club called Reign of Terror. They meet once a year, which is fine with her. When her mother forces her to visit her real dad, the visit turns into an extended summer trip. Emily is afraid of her dad, his motorcycle club, her new family, Oz, and the secrets everyone has been keeping. However, if she takes a risk, she has a chance of discovering true friendship, a feisty and loving family, a dad who would do anything for her, and a boy who can't live without her. Oz has spent his life preparing to be in the motorcycle club. Now his entry into the club is to protect Emily, the leader's daughter. It should be easy, but Emily is not like anyone Oz has met. Them being together would destroy his chances in the club, but great dreams are worth great sacrifices. Once again, McGarry has created a romance series that will leave readers clamoring for the next installment. It was intriguing getting a glimpse into the world of motorcycle clubs, which I knew nothing about. What was even better were the wonderful characters that McGarry creates. Emily is frightened yet she ferociously fights for the truth and those she loves. It was heartbreaking watching her begin to love her grandmother as she had to watch her being overtaken by cancer. Oz uses his tough guy exterior to hide his fears about losing Emily's grandmother, who is like a mother to him, and his future in the club. The romance between Oz and Emily is epic and unforgettable. Highly recommended!

The Cemetery Boys by Heather Brewer In Spencer, Michigan, they have a legend. When bad times come, the only way they can end is for a person to be sacrificed to dark, winged creatures. When Stephen moves to Spencer, his dad's home town, due to their own hard times, Stephen first thinks this legend is a joke. However, the people in town take this legend seriously, and his new crew of friends seem deadly serious about it. Even worse, bad times have hit Spencer again, but how far will Stephen's new friends go to end the bad times? This fast-paced horror story will leave you mistrusting your own judgements about who you can trust and the truth in old stories. Stephen has stepped into the rabbit hole, and he may not make it out alive. I love that this book is not in a series! Sweet by Tammara Webber He is the love of her life, but he doesn't know it. She is the one person he would do anything to protect, but he doesn't want her to know it. After years of friendship, flirtation, and a little bit more, Pearl and Boyce are at a crossing point. Pearl has moved back home, back where she can see Boyce every day. Only she is terrified to let him know how serious she wants to be. Boyce doesn't want Pearl to be tarnished by his rough world, and he will do everything to protect her from his family and himself. With feelings so sweet and powerful, they can't be held back forever. Webber's novel is exactly what the title says, sweet. Though Boyce may come from a rough life, his interactions with Pearl are warm and winsome, and her infatuation is just a sweet. Although the cover may be racy, this book felt more like a new adult version of 90's romance flick. I will be rereading this one again soon! Highly recommended! Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen Sydney is invisible in her house. Due to her brother's penchant for trouble, her family has always revolved around what Peyton has done wrong and what they are doing to help him get better. His last mistake has left a boy paralyzed and landed Peyton with a prison sentence. To help out with the finances, Sydney leaves her private school for a public one. There, she meets the charismatic Layla, her protective and cute older brother Mac, and the rest of their quirky and supportive friends and family. For the first time, Sydney has found a family that supports her and a boy who sees her. Yet, one mistake threatens to destroy everything she holds dear. Although Dessen may have changed the color scheme for her latest novel, this is still the classic Sarah Dessen romance that readers eagerly await. In fact, I have not loved her last two novels, but this one is full of the unique characters, true warmth, and romance of the best of writings. For me, The Truth About Forever is still my favorite. This one will now be a close second. I could not put it down. Highly recommended. Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas Even though Feyre is the youngest daughter in her family, she is the one responsible for making sure her family is fed and sheltered after her mother dies. While out hunting in the woods, she kills a fantastically large wolf, and the next night, a terrifying beast demands retribution because she killed one of the fair folk. As payment, she agrees to spend the rest of her day's at his home in the treacherous, magical land of the faerie, filled with creatures who once enslaved humans. Once back at his him, the creature transforms to Tamlin, one of the terrifying and beautiful faerie lords. Although his lands are filled with dangerous creatures, Feyre finds that he and his people are not what she expected. Here she finds kindness, freedom, and passion. However, a deadly disease has spread across the faerie lands, and if this blight is unchecked, humans will suffer as well. When Feyre learns about the true nature of the evil, she will need great courage to fight to protect those she loves from its horror. I devoured Maas' latest series about a girl who can't trust her senses and instead must trust her heart. Filled with great treachery, terrible riddles, fiery passion, and unexpected kindnesses, I marveled at the depth of this tale of magic and mystery. Feyre is a prickly, tough, and tenacious heroine, and you will celebrate as discovers the truth about herself and the faerie people and fights for those she loves. Highly recommended! Don't Look Back by Jennifer Armentrout Samantha is found limping and bleeding along the highway. She has no memory of who she is or why she has been hurt, and her best friend, Cassie, is still missing. A stranger to her own life, Sam is not pleased to learn who she used to be, the ultimate mean girl. Her friends and boyfriend think she is acting strangely, but Sam is thankful to have a second chance to be a better person. She also has a second chance with her childhood love, Carson Ortiz. Sam desperately wants to remember what happened the night she and Cassie went missing, but someone does not. If she can unlock the secrets of that night, she will be putting her life in danger. I devoured this unpredictable mystery. I appreciated Sam's rebirth into a kinder person after her amnesia, and it was fascinating figuring out the double mystery: why she became a mean girl and what happened to her and Cassie. The rekindled romance between her childhood best friend was an added bonus to an already amazing story. Highly recommended for mystery fans! |
