Stay Gold by Tobly McSmith
Pony just wants to be a normal boy. Therefore, his Senior year he transfers to a new school that does not know he is transgender where he hopes to fly under the radar and have a quiet year. However, the first day of school, Pony locks eyes with a gorgeous cheerleader, and all his plans fall apart as he falls for this beautiful and complicated girl. Georgia is cheerleader who has chosen to hide her love for writing from her friends. She had planned for an equally quiet year, free from boy drama, but with one look at Pony, her plans are similarly derailed. When Pony's secret is revealed, Georgia doesn't know how to feel, and everybody else has strong opinions about Pony. As everything around them starts to fall apart, can Pony "stay gold" like the original Ponyboy or will he disappear? Woven with themes of The Outsiders, this emotional story of claiming your true identity, being courageous, and falling in love will resonate with every reader. The characters are so real that you easily step in their shoes as they struggle to make safe vs. honest choices. This book is a gem that shines brightly. Highly recommended!

After the Revolutionary War, George Washington was offered a crown. He turned them down, but what would happen if he didn't. In this alternate history novel, George Washington was the first King of America, and his descendants still sit on the throne. Princess Beatrice is first in line to inherit the throne. She will be the first woman to become Queen regnant in America, so her parents have expected her to be perfect. Usually, she can handle the pressure, but when her parents decide she needs a royal husband, Beatrice struggles with doing what is best for America and following her own heart. Her younger siblings, Princess Samantha and Prince Jefferson, are just the spares, so they have become experts at breaking the rules to get attention. As Samantha falls for a boy who is completely off-limits and Jefferson is juggling two girls, America will soon find just how much love can change history. This fascinating alternate retelling of American history is perfect for fans of The Selection. Filled with treachery, heartbreak, and dreams, American Royals will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. I can't wait to see what awaits the Washington family in the next book. Highly recommended!

There's Something About Sweetie by Sandhya Menon
Sweetie is tired of her mother telling her what she can do, who she can date, what she should eat, and what she can wear all because she is not tiny.
Ashish, a former playboy, is tired of his broken heart keeping him from finding joy in anything, even his favorite activity - basketball.
They both need a kickstart to get control of their lives. The perfect solution. Sweetie should date a mom her does not approve of (Ashish). Ashish should finally date a girl that his parents choose (Sweetie). Neither are looking for love, but as the two grow closer, they will have trust each other and their own hearts if they are to find happiness.
This feel-good story is a celebration of being true to yourself, loving yourself the way you are, and trusting others can love you too. I couldn't put this book down as I cheered for both Sweetie and Ashish to believe in themselves and their relationship. I was so angry at Sweetie's mom for making her feel like she was never enough just because of her weight, and I loved watching Sweetie take back her life. The swoon-worthy scenes with Ashish perfectly spiced up the narrative. This story features Rishi's brother, Ashish, from Menon's first novel, When Dimple Met Rishi. This latest book brought me pure joy. If you are looking for a book that will encourage you to love yourself just as you are, this romantic comedy is exactly what you need. Highly, highly recommended!

Holland Davis is used to working well under pressure. As the only girl on a guy's hockey team, she has rules in order to stay on top. #1. Work harder than anyone else. #2. Keep a low profile. #3. No dating teammates. The rules have always been easy to follow until Wes, the new captain who is constantly pushing her to be better, shows her unexpected support and heart-pounding tenderness. Holland wants to take a chance on love, but she knows what everyone will say if she dates the captain. Will Holland have to give up her heart for hockey or can she find a way to fight for both. This was a delicious romance that will warm you up like hot cocoa on cold winter's day. I loved how Biren's characters defied stereotypes. I specifically loved the main character, Holland. Women everywhere will sympathize with her she fights fiercely to be true to herself and follow her dreams. This short and nearly-perfect romance is one to grab now. Highly recommended!

A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi
It is 2002, a year after the Twin Towers fell. With Islamophobia out control, it is an even more terrible time to be a teenage girl who wears hijab. At her new school, Shirin experiences the same ignorance and cruelty as she has dealt with her entire life. She uses music to shut out the racist comments and stupid questions and has hardened her heart so much that she expects nothing good of those around her. It mostly works until she is partnered up with Ocean James. Despite her attempts to scare him off, Ocean seems determined to get to know Shirin better. As his interest in her keeps growing, Shirin is terrified. She is fascinated by Ocean, but she knows a relationship between them would never end well. Ocean's expanse of kindness drowns out Shirin's hesitation, but their public relationship has an even worse fall-out than Shirin expected. When it seems like the world is against you, can love really win? Mafi's new book is a lyrically written story of an intense first love that will forever transform you. Shirin and Ocean's chemistry is steamy, and their journey will leave your heart full. It is one of best romances that I have ready in a very long time. I highly, highly recommend this book!

32 Candles by Ernessa Carter
Davie has grown up believing she is worthless. When she finally has the courage to try to live out her own Sixteen Candles, she is humiliated and runs away to LA. Working as a singer in a night club, Davie finally discovers her voice. At age 32, Davie feels like she has her life together when James Farrell, her high school crush, runs into her. Although she tries to avoid him, he has other ideas. Regardless, Davie is going to fight hard to get her own movie-perfect ending. I only read this book because a good friend loved it so much, but I am so glad that I did. Davie transforms into a sassy, funny, and powerful woman who takes control of her life. I could reread this book many times.

With their futures uncertain, how can they fall in love? This sweet romance from Lisa Schroeder is perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen. I liked the story of a football player who dreamed of other things for his future. My heart ached for Lauren's pain over her mother's betrayals. I cheered as they fought to make their future better. This is a light romance with a lot of heart.

Bright Before Sunrise by Tiffany Schmidt
One night can change everything. A lover can become an enemy, and an enemy can become the one person who understands you. Brighton has spent the year getting everyone in her school to volunteer, a tribute to her amazing father who died a few years back. The only person who won't help is Jonah, the new boy at school who appears to despise her. When fate brings them together for one night, Brighton hopes to change Jonah's mind, but she doesn't expect to find herself changed as well. When you keep running into someone, maybe it is time to start running with them. This non-traditional romance is definitely not love at first sight, but it does show what magic can happen when you take time to look beneath the surface of a person to find what lies inside. You will be changed.

Confess by Colleen Hoover
I have a confession to make . . . . Colleen Hoover's innovative, steamy romance is her best work to date! Confess is a story of secret confessions. Owen Gentry is an artist whose work is inspired by secret confessions that people leave for him. Auburn Reed meets him weeks after moving to Dallas when she answers his help wanted sign. She doesn't expect to have an attraction for the first time since she lost her first love. However, Owen has his own secrets, and if they are revealed, they could destroy his and Auburn's chance at love. When you start reading this book, make sure you have a clear schedule because you won't be able to put it down. Hoover has layered this book in bigger and bigger secrets, and it isn't until the final page that the biggest secret is revealed. I was shocked with each new revelation. Owen and Auburn are kind and complex characters, and their connection is honest and steamy. You will cheer and cry as they fight to stay away from each other and also be together. I also love how Colleen collaborated with the artist Danny O'Connor to create color versions of Owen's artwork; how she utilizes real artists adds depth to her stories. This is a book to read and reread! It is a perfect summer romance. Highly, highly recommended.

The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen
Ever since Callie had her innocence ripped away at her 12th birthday party, she has tried to hide herself away from the world, never telling anyone about the event because she feared retribution by her attacker. Now Callie is heading off to college, and there she finds a friend who encourages her to stop letting the past control her future. As Callie's confidence grows, she discovers that Kayden, a boy from her school with his own dark secrets, is attending her school. During Kayden's graduation party, Callie saved him from his father's brutal fists, and now Kayden is fascinated with this angel who saved him from death. As Kayden works to get close to Callie, he realizes she too needs to be saved. This new adult title from ebook to print author Jessica Sorensen has heart. Callie may be broken, but she is courageous as she begins slaying the demons of the past that control her. Moreover, her past doesn't stop her from defending the innocent and showing great kindness. She is a real life angel, and you can understand why Kayden soon feels he cannot breathe without her. Kayden is a football player with depth, and I am quite happy that I never had to hear Callie go on and on about his abs. Jessica Sorensen writes convincingly about broken characters on a path towards love and redemption, and I was caught up in the magic of The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden. Their romance continues in The Redemption of Callie and Kayden, and the final book in the trilogy comes out in September. I will definitely be downloading it!
Some people are just trouble. No matter what they do, trouble finds them. Jude Ryder is Trouble. Lucy is stuck at a new school for her Senior year of high school. She just wants to avoid trouble and get into Julliard, so she can continue to study dance. Unfortunately, Lucy first meets Jude Ryder. Trouble. Trouble. Trouble. Another bad boy romance that I am a sucker for.

In the 3rd book in the Pushing the Limits series, Isaiah finally gets a chance at his happy ending. Isaiah lives to work on and drive cars. He and Noah are struggling to stay afloat as Isaiah finishes school when Rachel runs into his life. For Rachel, being around cars is the only time she can control the anxiety in her life. When one mistake puts them both in trouble, they have to learn to trust each other if they are going to make it. Katie McGarry is a brilliant romance writer who creates modern day fairy tales. I love everyone of her books, but this is her best work yet. Guys are going to love Isaiah's fight for redemption. This book tops my romance favorites.

Book two of the Pushing the Limits series tells Beth's story. Beth will do anything to protect her mother, even if she doesn't deserve it. When her long-lost uncle finds out what is going, he forces Beth to live with him to keep her safe, but she just can't trust her uncle's intentions. At her new school, Ryan, the school's golden boy, can't seem to keep away from her. He feels a connection to Beth that he can't explain, and they are both terrified of what will happen if they start to trust each other. Find a love that will see you from yourself in this exception story. Just writing about it makes me want to read the book all over again. Swoon!

As Caymen and her mom struggle to make ends meet working in a tourist town, Caymen has learned never to trust her heart to someone rich. It didn't work for her mom, and it won't work for her. When Xander walks into her mother's store, Caymen can tell he's wealthy. Her head tells her she can't trust him, but her heart keeps telling her to give him a chance. Can Caymen and Xander bridge their differences to find a love worth waiting for? I wouldn't be recommending this book if they didn't.

While leaving a party, college sophomore Jackie is attacked by a guy she thought of as a friend. She escapes only by the strength of a boy she has never met who happens to hear her cries for help. Unwilling to turn in her attacker, Jackie must handle his continued threats, her ex-boyfriend's renewed interest, and her attraction to Lucas, the boy who saved her. Why can't love every be easy? This is an exceptional addition to the new adult genre. I loved how Jackie learns to fight back; she and her best friend even take self-defense classes together. Lucas' mysteries go from intriguing to heart-breaking.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
This is a heart-breaking story of first love. Eleanor has never fit in. Now she is stuck living in a tiny house with her many siblings, a step-dad she does not trust, and cries in the night that she cannot stop. With her big, curly red hair and second-hand clothes, Eleanor does not fit in her new high school. On her first day, she is looking for a seat on the bus, and the only person willing to let her sit down is Park. Now, he does not do this to be nice. This is definitely not a story about love at first sight. At first, Park can't stand to have this weird girl sit with him, and Eleanor is annoyed by Park's callous attitude. However, as they start reading together and sharing their favorite music on the bus, they see each other in a new light. Suddenly, their worlds revolve around each other, which is very dangerous for Eleanor. If her step-dad ever found out about her boyfriend, the consequences would be unimaginable. Everyone needs to read this book. Rainbow Rowell is a genius. It won the Good Reads Best Books of 2013 Young Adult Fiction award. Rainbow gets the joys and heartbreak of first love, and reading it, you will think about your own first love. This is on my Best Books of 2013 and ever list!

Every Day by David Levithan
Can true love stay strong no matter what you look like? Levithan explores this idea in the story of A. A is a teenager who has woken up in the body of a different person every day of his life. Every day his looks, attitude, homelife, and gender changes. He has always tried to stay true to the lives he touches, but then he meets Rhiannon. Even though she has a boyfriend, A cannot forget her, and he decides to reveal himself to her by coming back to her in his many forms. Will she be able to love him for his soul rather than his exterior? I did not fall in love with Levithan's characters, but his story gives you something to ponder and discuss.

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
Kind, beautiful, and thoughtful, Madeline Winter is a modern day rapunzel. She has spent most of her 17 years stuck inside her house watching the world because she has SCID, a rare condition that makes her severely allergic to the world. If she leaves the purified air of her house, she could die. The only people she see are her mom and her nurse Carla. Maddie has been okay with this until a new family moves in next door. They have a teenage son named Olly, an entrancing boy with Atlantic ocean blue eyes, a fascinating habit of hanging out on his roof, and a violent father. As Maddie begins to fall in love with him through texts (and supervised, secret visits with the help of her nurse), she begins to question her existence. Is it really living if you have never lived? Who is worth living for? What is worth dying for? Can a broken heart kill you? The answers she seeks are sure to destroy her world as she knows it. I can see why this book is on so many best book lists. Maddie is a narrator that is easy to love. Her intentions, as she fights for her love, are as pure as the air she breathes. As Maddie and Olly yearn to be together, readers will hearken to classic tales of romance such as Romeo and Juliet. I also thought that this was a novel for fans of The Fault in our Stars. Even though Everything, Everything gave the same feeling as these stories, the characters and plot were fresh and original. I have completely fallen for this fresh and fabulous romance. Highly recommended!

Falling for You by Lisa Schroeder
Afraid of people finding out about her abusive step-dad, Rae has always tried to hide her home life and stay away from relationships. When she meets Nathan, she finally thinks she has found her dream guy. However, Nate quickly starts taking over her whole life, and Rae realizes he is more like her step-dad than her prince charming. Rae will need to find a lot of strength if she is to get away from Nate and find someone she can really count on. I appreciated this book because for the first time I read about a girl getting abused who had the strength to break away from her abuser and did not believe she should be treated this way.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Cath is the ultimate Simon Snow fan. She has read all the books multiple times, dressed up to go the midnight movie premiers, and is one of the most popular fanficion writers about his series. She and her twin sister, Wren, have spent their lives with Simon Snow, but now they are heading off to college. Wren does not want to room with Cath, and she is ready to leave Simon Snow behind. Cath, on the other hand, is hurt and unwilling to give up her life with Simon. All alone, Cath attempts to navigate the choppy waters of college: making new friends, succeeding in classes, finding your own voice, and falling in love. Although she can't imagine a guy she would like more than Simon Snow, she finds a boy who is perfect for her in a way she never imagined possible. I didn't think I could like this book more than Eleanor and Park, but I do. It is a powerful story about falling in love and discovering who you are meant to be. I want to say more about the boy, but it would give away the ending. Let's just say that this tops my list.

Hopeless by Colleen Hoover
Hope is essential to living. Without it, you can't keep going when bad things happen. After being homeschooled her entire life, Sky starts public school and meets Dean, a boy with a reputation for trouble. Sky is frightened by their deep connection, but she can't seem to stay away from him. When Dean reveals the true source of their connection, Sky may lose everything. This gripping story of a girl struggling to come to terms with her life story will suck readers into this story and keep them addicted. How I Ruined My Summer Vacation by Simone Elkeles
Amy is not very happy when she learns she is not going to get a relaxing summer break hanging out with her friends. Instead, her estranged father is taking her to Israel, his home country. She is about to meet a family she knows nothing about and who know nothing about her. She is going to exchange power shopping with sheep sheering. She is going to meet guys that make the boys she knows back home seem juvenile. She does not want any of this. However, if she is lucky, she might just get a dad, family, and boyfriend in the process. This is my 2nd favorite novel from Elkeles, and I have read all of her books. I love that this novel mixes romance with sarcastic humor. Moreover, I love the story of how Amy bonds with her Israeli dad and family. There are two more books in the series, and I keep hoping that Simone will eventually write about more about more of Amy's misadventures in life and love.

Jude and Noah. Noah and Jude. These twins are two halves of one soul, always knowing each others thoughts, always having each others backs. Then year thirteen happened, and the crash that took away their mother and their own cruel secrets tear them apart. Told by Noah at age 13 (pre-disaster) and Jude age 16 (post-disaster), this is a story of humiliation, survival, healing, and hope. It is a story about the power of love, art, and family to make us whole again. Fans of Fault in Our Stars and Eleanor and Park will fall in love all over again. I know I did. This is one of those books that gets better with each page, and by the end, you know you have your hands on a treasure. As you get to know Noah, a tortured boy dreaming of becoming an artist and Jude, struggling to move beyond the betrayals of her past, your heart will break and eventually, soar. Nelson writes in the book that "You have to see miracles for there to be miracles." This book is a miracle!

The Infinite Moment of Us by Lauren Myracle
Charlie Parker has had a crush on Wren Gray most of high school. He never pursued his feelings because although they both took advanced classes, they came from very different worlds. He is a foster kids with a checkered past, and she is a cherished only child and honor student. She has never dated anyone, and Charlie has a history of unhealthy relationships. When they start talking during the graduation party, they have a connection that turns into a consuming, summer romance. As the summer comes to a close, their diverging college plans and dissimilar backgrounds start pulling them apart. Will this just be a summer romance or something more? I fell in love with this passionate story of a powerful first love. Charlie is haunted by his past, and Wren is like a young bird struggling to find her wings. Highly recommended!

It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover
Lily Bloom's father has recently died, and she is so . . . glad. For years, she watched him abuse her mother, and she still feels guilty for not doing more to stop the violence. After his death, she vows never to be stuck in the same type of relationship. When just dreaming about starting her own florist shop, Lily meets Ryle, an enigmatic and passionate neurosurgeon who claims not to do relationships. The more times they run into each other, the more confident Lily is that she has found a man she can trust until one mistake makes her question everything she thought was true about herself and their relationship. This honest tale about how easy it is to get stuck in a cycle of abuse will leave an impression on you that will not let go. With each Colleen Hoover book, I think, "How can she top this?" Yet, each book gets more poignant and more memorable with characters that grab your heart and don't let go. This book is exceptional. Highly recommended.

24 hours. In the scope of a lifetime, it is a short amount of time, but everything can change in 24 hours. You to fall in love, break your heart, and become a new person. In hopes of embracing a daring, new side of herself, responsible Ally agrees to spend a day in Paris with Willem, a Dutch guy she has just met. During that day, she falls in love with her new, daring self and with Willem. Unfortunately, she wakes up the next morning alone and broken-hearted. Embarrassed and haunted by Willem, Ally starts college in a depression. With the intervention of a few friends, she abandons her parents expectations and decides to uncover the daring Ally of her dreams and Willem's whereabouts. Book two of the series, Just One Year, explores how Willem's life is changed by that day. Paris is the city of love, and I fell in love with this two-book series. I related to Ally's struggle to discover who she is truly meant t o be. She wants to follow her dreams instead of her parents. I loved how she follows her heart to track down Willem and learn the truth of why he left. This novel inspired me to try French macaroons, and I recommend eating CH Patisserie's French macaroons while reading this book to get into the spirit of Ally's transformation. The only problem is I that really, really want there to be a third book. If there isn't, I implore you to email Gayle to request it!

A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall
Have you ever watched two people together and are sure they would make the perfect couple if only they could admit that they liked each other? This refreshing romance tells the love story of the particularly hopeless Gabe and Lea. Everyone, the Starbucks barista, their college professor, their best friends, the Chinese delivery guy, believes that Gabe and Lea are perfect for each other. These two simply need to act on their feelings, but this proves very difficult for these romantically-clueless souls. It was fascinating reading a love story that is not told from the perspective of love interest. I was driven somewhat crazy waiting for Gabe and Lea to move forward in their relationship, but I enjoyed the originality of the telling.

Lexi is know as the most beautiful girl in the room, but in one night, a bad decision destroys the thing that made her unique. In anger, she leaves a party with a boy who has been drinking, chooses not to wear a seatbelt, and ends up with her face going through the windshield during an accident. Now the "pretty girl" must find new meaning for her life, new friends, and new love. Does Lexi have the courage to prove to everyone that she is more than just a pretty face and that even with her scars, she can still be beautiful? I loved watching Lexi's transformation from puppet to power.

Nowhere but Here by Katie McGarry
Emily has a loving mom and dad, so she does not want to know more about her biological father, a member of the motorcycle club called Reign of Terror. They meet once a year, which is fine with her. When her mother forces her to visit her real dad, the visit turns into an extended summer trip. Emily is afraid of her dad, his motorcycle club, her new family, Oz, and the secrets everyone has been keeping. However, if she takes a risk, she has a chance of discovering true friendship, a feisty and loving family, a dad who would do anything for her, and a boy who can't live without her. Oz has spent his life preparing to be in the motorcycle club. Now his entry into the club is to protect Emily, the leader's daughter. It should be easy, but Emily is not like anyone Oz has met. Them being together would destroy his chances in the club, but great dreams are worth great sacrifices. Once again, McGarry has created a romance series that will leave readers clamoring for the next installment. It was intriguing getting a glimpse into the world of motorcycle clubs, which I knew nothing about. What was even better were the wonderful characters that McGarry creates. Emily is frightened yet she ferociously fights for the truth and those she loves. It was heartbreaking watching her begin to love her grandmother as she had to watch her being overtaken by cancer. Oz uses his tough guy exterior to hide his fears about losing Emily's grandmother, who is like a mother to him, and his future in the club. The romance between Oz and Emily is epic and unforgettable. Highly recommended!

Only a Breath Apart by Katie McGarry
Jesse Lachlan's and Scarlett Copeland's lives are ruled by fear. Scarlett is terrified of never escaping her father's rage and control, and Jesse is terrified of losing his family's land. When fate makes it clear that Jesse and Scarlett must work together if they have a chance of making their future plans a reality, these former best friends reluctantly team up. As they become reacquainted, they discover their nearly magical childhood bond hasn't completely broken and is, instead, transforming into something more powerful. Then Scarlett's dad discovers their relationship, and his rage may destroy everything they hold dear. Can Scarlett and Jesse defy fate? I am a HUGE Katie McGarry fan, and I think this may be her best book yet. McGarry's characters always have so much heart, an internal kindness and integrity that makes you root for them. Scarlett's struggles to fight her father for her own identity and safety were honest and heartbreaking. Of course, Jesse's ragtag friends all have tragic backstories, and I am going to be heartbroken if each does not receiver their own novel. I also love that McGarry creates heart-stopping romance without a side of cheese. After reading a lot of clunky romances this year, Only a Breath Apart reminded me why I love the genre. I love it when complicated people find love, the ultimate magic, together. Swoon! Highly, highly recommended!

Out of Play by Nyrae Dawn
Bishop Riley isn't an addict. Drummer in a popular band, he takes the pills to fight the terror he feels about performing in crowds. He can stop any time he wants. However, his band does not agree, and they force him to spend some time in a small town in Alaska to sort himself out. Penny Jones is a fiery-tempered, hockey player who knows what she wants and goes after it. She is not interested in Bishop and his bad attitude, and he definitely is not interested in such a rude-mouthed girl. Yeah, I don't believe it either, but I loved reading about how they realized that hate had been replaced by love.

Be prepared to be ruined! Ella Harper is willing to whatever it takes to survive, even if that means that she must take a less-than-savory job to stay independent after her mother dies. When Callum Royal appears and informs her that he is her guardian, Ella suddenly finds herself in a mansion surrounded by five gorgeous brothers. But this story is no fairy-tale. The boys despise Ella's presence in their home. Reed Royal, the unspoken leader of the bunch, will stop at nothing to send Ella back to her former world. He might be considered a prince in his school, but he definitely is not the type to save the girl. However, Ella Harper is no princess in need of saving. She is willing to fight dirty to stand up for herself and protect those she loves. Despite their initial battles, Ella and the boys, especially Reed, start to care for each other. However, the Royal kingdom is filled with twisted secrets that may destroy them all. Clear your schedule when you start this series. The cliff-hanger endings and addictive plots will turn you into a Royal addict. You won't be able to stop reading until you finish book three. (I am excited to tell you that the author said Easton will have one or more books starting next fall!) I can't completely explain why I loved this series so much. The actions and language of the characters are often shocking, but the characters themselves are simply by-products of terrible home lives. Ella's mom was a stripper who traveled the country with Ella following her bad boyfriends. The Royal boys may have money, but their mother's tragic death and their father's new girlfriend poison all their lives. Just as the boys magically worm their way into Ella's heart, these characters will do the same to you. This is a perfect winter read to warm you up! This is the best romance I have read in ages! Highly recommended!
Perfect Chemistry Series by Simone Ekleles
Hands down, the best teen romance I have ever read. Brittany is the girl that seems to have everything: good looks, rich parents, great grades, off-the-charts popularity, and a gorgeous boyfriend. Alex appears to be the boy with no future: gang member, rumored to use and deal drugs, and feared by all. However, both of them have secrets. Brittany is hiding the fact that she has a severely disabled older sister whom her parents barely tolerate, and Alex secretly dreams of leaving the gang and attending college. When these two are paired up in chemistry class, sparks fly inside and outside the classroom. Finally, Brittany and Alex have found a person that they can be honest with, but they are going to defeat a variety of foes if their love is going to stand a chance. Thank you Simone Elkeles for writing such an amazing romance! Nonstop drama and steamy romance make this book an unforgettable read. The next two books in the series, Rules of Attraction and Chain Reaction, follow the lives of the younger Fuentes brothers as they fall in love.

Pride by Ibi Zoboi - 2018-19
Zuri Benitez has pride in herself, her family, and her neighborhood. Although her sisters are delighted that the family that renovated the abandoned building next door has two fine, rich, African American sons, Zuri is not impressed. Their presence is a sign that her neighborhood is gentrifying. Although the older brother, Ainsley is charming, Darius, the younger brother, is judgmental and arrogant. At first, Zuri and Darius can't stand each other, but as they get to know each other better, they discover their first impressions may have been mistaken. With Zuri's neighborhood, family, love interest and future in flux, she must fight hard for her dreams. Ibi Zoboi's fresh adaption of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice will bring a new group of readers to my favorite classic romance story where dislike transforms to love. Zuri is fierce and sassy, and Darius is imperious and arrogant, just like Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy. Zoboi cleverly adapts the most important moments of the original book, but the story is so original that you don't need to know of the original to enjoy this novel. Zoboi is brilliant, and I can't wait to see what she creates next. Highly recommended!

After Rider and Mallory are pulled from the home, they are separated, and Mallory ends up with loving adoptive parents who spend years homeschooling her and getting her the counseling she needs to get healthy. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
Noah and Echo have both been scarred by life. Noah's scars come from living in foster care after his parents were killed in a fire and being separated from his two younger brother, whom he desperately loves. Echo's scars are more visible. A terrible encounter with her mother left her with scars up and down her arms and no memory of what happened to cause them. They meet in the school psychologist's office and although they come from different worlds, they agree to help free each other from their secrets. What they don't expect is to fall in love. This is my second favorite teen romance. I love everything Katie McGarry writes.

Racing Savannah by Miranda Kenneally
The son who is learning to run his father's large horse farm, Jack lives in the estate house. The daughter of a horse trainer, Savannah lives with the help. Neither of their parents want them to be friends, and anything more is unthinkable. With the intervention of a spirited horse named Star, Jack and Savannah meet. Having to hide their growing attraction, they work together as Savannah trains to race Star, Jack's talented but unpredictable horse. When they lose control of their emotions, Savannah believes Jack must love her enough to tell the world. Instead, he tries to keep their relationship a secret. If Savannah wants the future of her dreams, she is going to have to fight for respect as a rare female jockey and for herself in realizing she should never have to prove herself worthy of love. You don't have to be a fan of horse racing to speed through this fast-paced romance. Although I felt Savannah was a bit too trusting at times, she was spunky and fought for herself, her family, and her dreams. Moreover, the ending is definitely swoon-worthy.

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen
Sydney is invisible in her house. Due to her brother's penchant for trouble, her family has always revolved around what Peyton has done wrong and what they are doing to help him get better. His last mistake has left a boy paralyzed and landed Peyton with a prison sentence. To help out with the finances, Sydney leaves her private school for a public one. There, she meets the charismatic Layla, her protective and cute older brother Mac, and the rest of their quirky and supportive friends and family. For the first time, Sydney has found a family that supports her and a boy who sees her. Yet, one mistake threatens to destroy everything she holds dear. Although Dessen may have changed the color scheme for her latest novel, this is still the classic Sarah Dessen romance that readers eagerly await. In fact, I have not loved her last two novels, but this one is full of the unique characters, true warmth, and romance of the best of writings. For me, The Truth About Forever is still my favorite. This one will now be a close second. I could not put it down. Highly recommended.

Say You'll Remember Me by Katie McGarry
Ever since Drix got out of the Second Chance program, he has refused to play the drums. He may not have committed the crime that landed him in the program, but his out-of-control lifestyle was leading him to big trouble. The drums remind of being out of control, and Drix wants to turn his crazy life around. When he saves a gorgeous girl at a carnival, he has no idea that she is the real danger. Elle, the daughter of the govenor who created the Second Chance program, dreams of a day that she can be herself instead of the in control girl her parents require. Even as her dad is using Drix to tout the success of the program, she knows her parents would never allow her to date him. However, their connection is too strong to be denied. As their secret phone calls become secret visits, they will have to decide how much they are willing to risk to save each other. Once again, Katie McGarry delivers and unforgettable romance filled with real yet unique characters that you can't help but cheer for. I am really, really hoping this book will be the first installment in a series that will feature Drix's friends and family, but she has not announced it is a series yet. Highly recommended!

Natasha and her family are facing deportation gack to Jamaica. Natasha is spending her last day in the US desperately searching for some official who is wiling to stop this disaster, so she can stay in the country she has called home for the past 10 years. On the same day, Daniel is heading to a Yale interview for a future his parents want more than he does when he spies the radiant Natasha. Instantly smitten, Daniel devises a way to spend the day with the girl he is sure could be his true love. It doesn't matter that they come from different cultures and like different subjects; Daniel knows they could be perfect for each other. However, wiith Natasha's uncertain future, what chance does true love have? I really didn't think Yoon could top Everything, Everything, but she did. Watching Natasha and Daniel fall in love will charm and delight you, and Yoon's prose is pure poetry. Interspersed in the novel are windows into the lives of the side characters in the story, whose actions affect the fate of the young lovers, and each of these is a perfect star in the universe of this story. This is a book that will make your heart grow three times bigger. Highly recommended!

Sweet by Tammara Webber
He is the love of her life, but he doesn't know it. She is the one person he would do anything to protect, but he doesn't want her to know it. After years of friendship, flirtation, and a little bit more, Pearl and Boyce are at a crossing point. Pearl has moved back home, back where she can see Boyce every day. Only she is terrified to let him know how serious she wants to be. Boyce doesn't want Pearl to be tarnished by his rough world, and he will do everything to protect her from his family and himself. With feelings so sweet and powerful, they can't be held back forever. Webber's novel is exactly what the title says, sweet. Though Boyce may come from a rough life, his interactions with Pearl are warm and winsome, and her infatuation is just a sweet. Although the cover may be racy, this book felt more like a new adult version of 90's romance flick. I will be rereading this one again soon! Highly recommended!

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
The night that Tate moves into her brother's apartment, her brother's best friend, Miles Archer, shows up on his doorstep so inebriated that he can barely move. Although Miles vehemently vows he is incapable of a relationship and Tate's class and work schedule give her no time for a relationship, the two can't deny their electrifying attraction. When they decide to have relations with a relationship, they both promise to have fun and not be serious. However, our minds can't seem to control our hearts, and they may both drown in this ugly love that neither can deny. Hoover once a gain hits a home run. Based on the premise of the book, I was afraid this book wouldn't speak to teens. However, the tragic event that turned Miles off of love happened when he was in high school, and throughout the book, we delve deeper into the events that left him scarred forever. This story of heartbreak, ugliness, forgiveness, and healing captivates. Highly recommended!

What If It's Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera - 2018-19
Do you believe in fate? In a greater power bringing you to the person who was your true love? Arthur does. Spending a life-changing summer in NYC, Arthur runs into a beautiful boy who he would love to get to know better. The only problem is that he doesn't get his name or number. Ben, on the other hand, doesn't believe in fate. After a messy breakup, he is trying to move forward when he runs into a sweet boy from the South. After walking away from their conversation, Ben regrets not taking the time to get this boy's info. How can you possibly run into the same person twice in New York? Haunted by each other, these boys decide to defy to find each other. With a little internet stalking, helpful friends, and a dash of fate, Ben and Arthur do meet again, but it will be up to them, not fate, whether their romance will be as epic as their origin story. Fans of Albertalli's Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda will swoon with this summer romance that is filled with the terrible mistakes and wondrous moments of falling in love. Arthur is so cute in his love of Broadway and Ben, and Ben is endearing in his attempts to woo Arthur. It was a storybook tale watching their lives intertwine, and I both appreciated and hated that the ending was not predictable. I listened to this book, and I loved hearing two readers bring Ben and Arthur to life. This book was magic in the real world. Highly recommended!

When It's Real by Erin Watt
Oakley Ford might be the most popular pop star on the planet, but right now, his life is falling apart. He hasn't been inspired to create an album in two years, and his bad boy antics are keeping public and his dream music producer from taking him seriously. His manager thinks the best way to improve his image and music is to hire a normal girl to be his girlfriend. Nor romance, no drama, just business.
After the death of her parents, Vaughn Bennett could use some extra money to keep her family afloat, so when she gets an offer to be superstar Oakley's Ford's fake girlfriend, she can't afford to refuse - event though she already has a serious boyfriend is sure not to be happy with her decision.
Although their first few "dates" are disasters, the closer Vaughn gets to Oak, the more she realizes that he is so much more than his bad boy image. As the fake kisses leave both of them breathless and they begin to crave each other's presence, their fake relationship begins to feel real to both of them. With the world tweeting and photographing their every step, Oak and Vaughn will need a lot of faith and trust if they are going to fight for something real.
If you became enamored with Watt from her Royals series, her latest book will be the perfect fix. Watt breathes new life into the popular superstar falls for the normal girl plot. The characters in her book refuse to be stereotypes. Vaughn is such a strong-minded girl that she feels comfortable making her long-time boyfriend wait for her, despite his whining. Oak might be worshiped by teens, but he fangirls over his dream music producer who refuses to work with him. They are two lost teens making mistakes as they search for their future happiness, and you will fall in love with them along the way. I also appreciate the life Watt gives to her side characters. From the best friend/bodyguard to the superstar mom who is desperate to rekindle her relationship with her son, Watt's side characters crackle with life. If you looking for the hottest, new teen romance, this is the book you should pick up next. Highly recommended!

If you loved Eleanor and Park, then this story of two misfits falling in love is perfect for you. Alvie will never be "normal." Her mom didn't know what to do with her, and schools and group homes were a disaster. Alvie just wants to be left alone to be herself. Her dream is to be emancipated and continue working with animals that she understands and loves. Then one day, she meets a boy who may be even stranger than her. Stanley uses a cane and is constantly getting hurt, but he seems to genuinely like spending time with her. No one has ever wanted to be Alvie's friend, and Alvie is terrified she will hurt him just like she hurt the last person who loved her, her mother. As her tenuous existence falls apart, Alvie will have to face her fears or find herself truly alone. You won't be able to stop yourself loving the fierce and haunted Alvie and beautiful and broken Stanley. Their fight to find love and caring in an often unfeeling world will leave you transformed. Alvie would hate being touches, but you will want to hold her hand as she faces the demons of her past and fights for a future of hope. This book is a gem. Highly recommended!

When We Collided by Emery Lord
Bipolar. Manic depressive. These are words to describe Vivi, but she doesn't want these words to define her. Escaping to a beach town to recover from the effects of her latest, losing fight with her manic depression, Vivi vows to live life to the fullest, even if that means she has to stop taking the medication that makes her head muddy. It also means that she doesn't hesitate to fall for the handsome Jonah, who is still reeling from the effects of his father's death on his family. As these two broken spirits collide, they bring each other to highest heights and the deepest lows. For both of them, this summer will change their lives forever. Like Vivi and Jonah could not stop themselves from falling in love, I could not stop myself from falling for this beautifully written book. Vivi is alternatively bursting with vivacity and joy or falling apart from sadness. Jonah's fight to save his family, himself, and Vivi is poignant and heartbreaking. Highly recommended!

Wild by Alex Mallory
Imagine growing up in the woods alone believing that few humans were left alive. Imagine having to hunt for every meal and going hungry in the winter and spring. Imagine learning everything you believed to be true to be a lie. Cade grew up in the woods with his parents, and they told him most of humanity was wiped out by a plague. Then he sees Dara, a girl with golden hair, who is camping with her boyfriend in the wilds of Cade's home. First, he watches her, mesmerized. When he saves her life and ends up in a hospital, Cade learns that everything he has been told by his parents was a lie, and the authorities won't believe Cade's remarkable story. As Dara and Cade grow closer, this "wild" boy struggles to survive in modern society. Dara, Jane to Cade's Tarzan, must decide if she can say goodbye to modern conveniences like Jane. This modernized version of the Tarzan story is lovely with some great new twists. This Tarzan can speak and read, but he can live off the land like our ancestors. I also like that his parents chose to run to the wild. The romantic tension between Dara and Cade is steamy. Although I wanted her to believe his story sooner than she did, it may be more reasonable that she would not believe he could have lived his whole life in the wild. This books is both survival story and romance, told from multiple perspectives. It is hard to classify, like Cade, but ultimately, satisfying.
